W-CODE-SAT or W61SAT

W-CODE-SAT or W61SAT

WAVECOM recommends to use the W61PC/LAN together with W61SAT. The advantage of this combination is the SDR (Software Defined Radio) contained on the W61PC. It allows to build a reliable, optimized, straightforward and cost effective monitoring system.
W-CODE required an external receiver, IF output.

The W61PC is the first choice to build a cost efficient satellite monitoring system for INMARSAT as has a fully tunable 70 MHz IF input for satellite monitoring (no external receivers are required). The W61SAT modes are a software option for the professional versions of the WAVECOM® decoders.
Regarding the system requirements for a L-band  monitoring system, consult our application note

The SAT Option consists of:

EasySATSystem
A smart software, controlling multiple W61PC cards for the modes INMARSAT B, M or mM. The control software is included in our W61SAT-Option. Up to 10 cards are controlled simultaneously from our control software. Setup is done in a text configuration file.

INMARSAT A
With the SAT-A mode, the forward channel (TDM telex traffic) can be monitored.

INMARSAT B
The W61PC monitors the control channel, and upon initiation of a new session with a Mobile Terminal, automatically switches to the assigned Traffic Channel for monitoring. To limit the volume of monitored traffic, a watch list may be created containing target MES IDs. Monitored FAX, Phone (Voice), TELEX and Data sessions are stored in files. A fax viewer is included in the software. Voice is recorded in wav files.

INMARSAT C (TDM, TDMA, EGC)
With the SAT-C-TDM and SAT-C-TDMA mode, data traffic going in both directions can be monitored.
The INMARSAT C satellite system has an inherent capability, known as Enhanced Group Call (EGC), which allows broadcast messages to be made to selected groups of ship stations. Two types of EGC services are available, SafetyNET and FleetNET. Both systems are part of our SAT-C-TDM mode.

INMARSAT M
The W61PC monitors the control channel, and upon initiation of a new session with a Mobile Terminal, automatically switches to the assigned Traffic Channel for monitoring. To limit the volume of monitored traffic, a watch list may be created containing target MES IDs. Monitored FAX, Phone (Voice) and Data sessions are stored in files. A fax viewer is included in the software. Voice is recorded in wav files.

INMARSAT mM
The W61PC monitors the control channel, and upon initiation of a new session with a Mobile Terminal, automatically switches to the assigned Traffic Channel for monitoring. To limit the volume of monitored traffic, a watch list may be created containing target MES IDs. Monitored FAX and Data sessions are stored in files. A fax viewer is included in the software. Phone (Voice) is available on request and requires a special AMBE codec.

INMARSAT AERO-I
Beta Version, implementation not yet finished. Aero-I uses small, less-expensive satellite communications equipment and antennas. Aero-I is designed to meet the regional needs of short- to medium-haul aircraft operators. Aero-I voice, fax and data services operate in the Inmarsat spot beams, while packet data transmissions use global beams. Aero-I is ICAO/SARPS compliant. It supports safety, operational, administrative and passenger voice and data communications applications. Monitored Data sessions are stored in files.

INMARSAT Near Field Monitoring System
To monitor multiple INMARSAT B, M or mM terminals that are in you very close neighborhood, a specialized setup  of the Monitoring System is required (only on request, not included in the SAT-Option).
