ARC8600 can import your old files created with the AOR workshop software. You can also download a lot of workshop files from This site.

- ARC8600 does not share/replace/modify any files in your windows/system directory. You can simply recognize files that are installed in the system dir. (NOT VBRUN300.DLL)

What does ARC8600 offer more than other programs?

AOR has a splendid remote control interface command set and only a program specially designed for the AR8600 will support all options. I have over 4 years experience with AOR remote control so I know all the tricks.
Multi radio programs are only interesting for the company that makes them because they design 1 program for all radio's. This means that not all options are supported by these programs. Some companies do not even own an AR8600 because they think it's similar to AR8000 control. I own all AOR radio's I control.

The ARC software product range is designed by a group of scanning radio users.
Out of frustration we started writing our own software. So our software was written by the people that actually use the software and know what scanning radio is about rather then a programmer with a degree who was looking for a job.
For every new radio we start from scratch. We do not modify older programs.
For that reason the ARC software product range is not 32-bit true color, Pentium 2 enhanced Active X ready.... No it's stable software, running all windows versions above 3.1 with useful tools.
Unlike other programs my software has direct access to the EEPROM of the AR8600 making it possible to do things the normal remote interface does not include.

ARC8600 has the same functionality as the ARC5000 software. All memory and search data is presented in spreadsheet type windows with intelligent edit options. Of course clipboard support is available for pasting data out of other applications.

For setting up new banks ARC8600 has powerful tools. You can for example change the mode of all channels in a memory bank with only 2 mouse clicks. And the EasyFill options lets you setup an entire bank in a few seconds. These options were all designed during the practical use of the ARC5000 software.

ARC8600 does not require hardware squelch detection like some other programs requiring a special interface. A new designed protocol increases the search speed in remote disk log mode resulting in a search speed faster then the AR8600 itself. Test show a remote control speed of 30-50 freq.'s a second.
