| Strange Sound Card Behavior Are you sure your sound card is installed correctly? Most sound cards use interrupt IRQ 5 or 7, with 5 being the default . When you install the sound card, WINDOWS will attempt to assign IRQ 5 to the sound card, provided this IRQ 5 is not used by any other device. If already used, then WINDOWS will assign an unused IRQ to the sound card. However, your sound card will still try to use the default IRQ , causing a typical IRQ conflict and some strange behavior of your computer and sound card. You can find the present use of the IRQs in the 'Device Manager'. You may have to reassign the IRQ, if necessary. You may also find information about the setup of your sound card in your AUTOEXEC.BAT and the INI-file of your sound card. I am using an InterWave Sound Card using the following INI-file: [setup 0] mode=pnp gpusage=irq revision=B2 csn=1 pnprdp=20b UseDma=true SynthBase=220 CodecBase=32c AdLibBase=388 GamePort=201 ATAPIBase=170 DMA1=7 DMA2=6 IRQ1=10 IRQ2=0 CDBase=170 CDIRQ=12 CDDMA=4 SBIRQ=5 SBDMA=1 MpuBase=330 MPUIRQ=0 vendor_id=ADV550A effects=on winrdp=277 dosrdp=20b |
