The compact and low-weight solution for complex analysis and decoding tasks offers sophisticated functions. Low power consumption and the universal DC power supply range are additional advantages to use the W4050DSP in mobile operations. With the addition of a monitor, and connection to a suitable receiver, the system is ready to use.

 

 

General Functions
The W4050DSP is a complete system which offers all the necessary functions to analyze, decode and process radio communication transmissions. The complete electronic circuitry is realized on three printed circuit boards installed in a compact housing.

The W4050DSP can be used interactively, via remote control, or using automatic control (customer written or third party software). This allows the plug-in system to be adapted to the clients needs and applications.

Using an audio or IF signal, the W4050DSP decodes a variety of text and graphical transmission modes. The detection of signal parameters is assisted by a large number of analysis and measurement functions which operate in a wide range.

Special Functions
To decode and analyze signal transmissions the W4050DSP is equipped with two Digital Signal Processors (DSP) and an additional application specific processor unit. The DSP's with their power and efficiency alloy the realization of real-time demodulators.

The application specific processor manages the processing of the demodulated data, and provides pre parathion of the decoded data stream to be externally displayed on a high resolution monitor.

The easy-to-use man-machine interface with clearly structured menus allows an operator to be familiar wit the W4050DSP after a very short time. A high grade of efficiency can be very quickly realized. This very qualified type of operation needs a fast switching between analysis and decoding modes. Professional users will appreciate the similar environment which made the W4100DSP a leading product.

All of the integrated analysis tools contain different measuring methods and viewing possibilities in order to examine the important signal parameters in detail. The W4050DSP reaches a unique precision and operates with highest resolutions (e.g. 0.001 baud for Baudrate calculation) Adjustable crosshairs/lines with associated numeric on-line output of their position within different viewing modes make it easy to measure signal parameters exactly. Variable zoom functions allow a detailed magnification of a chosen window.

Real-time FFT functions realized with high speed Motorola DSPs, together with a fast display refresh rate, provide powerful tools especially suitable for analyzing unknown signals.
A wide range of default system settings can be configured. Some examples are, input signal level, sampling rate, measuring interval, center frequency and complex interleaving factors. Additionally a variety of international alphabets can be selected.

To connect a monitor or printer all the necessary standard sockets are available on the rear side of the cabinet. Besides the different data inputs a number of serial and parallel interfaces are available to allow data exchange. in the local mode all W405ODSP functions can be controlled by the buttons on the front panel. LED barograph indicators for tuning and signal level support the user in adjusting signals correctly.

The W4050DSP is the portable version of the W4100DSP. It's compactness and low weight match the needs to use this powerful analyzer/ -decoder in mobile operations. The low power consumption together with a universal supply voltage range of 11 to 16.5 VDC make it easy to connect to various power supply systems.

Most of the more than 100 modes currently implemented, all important demodulators and a variety of different alphabets are included in the standard package. Options to decode additional modes are available for authorized official bodies, as is the software source code and a complete development environment. This allows the customer to realize own decoding modes or to adapt the user interface to specific requirements. Product development is an ongoing process, and additional modes and functions are continually being added.

Typical fields of application for the W4050DSP system include:

Within official bodies and telecommunication authorities the range of applications last from stationary monitoring of one transmission with a single system to fully automated broad band monitoring with a network of cooperating systems. The frequency range covers a spectrum from audio frequencies up to microwaves.

The fully documented remote control possibilities make an integration into almost every user environment very easy. This can be the direct decoding of a single, fixed frequency transmission or the overall signal analysis of a complete network.

Automatic mode recognition makes completely autonomous operation possible. Decoded data can be transferred for being processed by user applications running on additional computers without human interaction. Customer written or third party software can control receivers, recording equipment or the W4050DSP output can be fed into complex data analysis tools which make use of sophisticated functions like the alarm monitor. Additional time stamps generated by the system can be added to the data to ensure precise backtracking of any signal.
